PREAMBLE 

Standerton Victim Empowerment, a Gender-Based Violence NGO, recognizes that HIV/AIDS and GBV are interconnected public health and human rights issues. We are committed to addressing the complex relationship between gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS by integrating prevention, care, and support strategies into our programs. This policy outlines our approach and commitment to addressing both GBV and HIV/AIDS.

MISSION STATEMENT

Standerton Victim Empowerment is dedicated to preventing and responding to gender-based violence and its impact on individuals and communities. We further commit to promoting the health, well-being, and dignity of all individuals affected by GBV, including those living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS.

KEY COMPONENTS OF THE HIV/AIDS
POLICY

 PREVENTION

We will implement comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention programs that address the specific vulnerabilities of survivors of gender-based violence.

 Our prevention efforts will include awareness campaigns, educational programs, and skills-building initiatives that empower individuals to protect themselves from HIV infection.

 SUPPORT AND SERVICES

We will provide survivors of GBV with access to HIV testing and counseling services, as well as referrals for appropriate medical care.

 We will offer psychosocial support and counseling to individuals living with HIV/AIDS who have experienced GBV.

 We will promote a survivor-centered approach that respects confidentiality and informed consent in all service provision.

 STIGMA REDUCTION

We are committed to reducing stigma and discrimination related to both GBV survivors and people living with HIV/AIDS.

 We will conduct campaigns to challenge stereotypes and promote inclusivity, ensuring that those affected by GBV or HIV/AIDS receive support without discrimination.

 CAPACITY BUILDING

Our staff and volunteers will receive training on GBV and HIV/AIDS issues to enhance their understanding and ability to provide appropriate support and services.

 We will ensure that our team is equipped to address the unique needs and vulnerabilities of individuals affected by both GBV and HIV/AIDS.

 ADVOCACY

We will actively advocate for policies and practices that address the intersection of GBV and HIV/AIDS at local, national, and international levels.
